On June 29th, delegates at the UU General Assembly 2014 passed an Action of Immediate Witness (AIW) calling on UUs to join national faith leaders and immigrant rights advocates from across the nation on July 31st to August 2nd to call on the White House to stop the deportations of immigrants and end the unjust laws tearing apart families, communities and congregations.
Deadline for registration for housing and meals is July 15
UU Voices for Justice is a part of the UU State Advocacy Network and the UUA Office of Congregational Advocacy and Witness is urging us to answer this call. The will be the largest direct action UU's have taken since we gathered in Phoenix by the hundreds and engaged in civil disobedience in protest of Arizona's SB 1070 four years ago this month.
The AIW called for UUs to participate in planned civil disobedience on July 31st. It also called on UUs to support the National Day Laborer Organizing Network #Not1More Deportation Campaign. Not One More will have a Day of Action in DC on August 2nd.
This is important, sacred work. Please join me in DC on July 30th to begin four days that will change your life. You only have to get there. Housing and most meals will be provided. There is time planned for training for civil disobedience and for planning steps beyond these two actions. And we hope there will be time for us to celebrate four years of partnership with the National Day Laborers Organizing Network.
